Principle 05
Carrying
The capacity to hold what is still becoming.
Not everything reveals its fruit immediately. Some things must be carried through uncertainty, hiddenness and time before they can emerge.

The Fifth Capacity
Some forms of life require us to remain with what is unfinished.
Carrying is the discipline of remaining present to something before its outcome is visible. It is the willingness to hold responsibility, uncertainty, memory, possibility or promise without abandoning it simply because completion has not yet arrived.
The womb offers one of the clearest images of carrying. What is being formed is real, yet hidden. Growth is taking place, yet much of it cannot be seen. The carrier must live in relationship with a future that has not yet appeared.
Human life contains many such seasons. We carry children, questions, communities, grief, ideas, responsibilities and visions across stretches of time in which we cannot yet see what they will become.
The Strength To Remain
Carrying is the courage
to remain with becoming.
The Human Question
What happens when we lose the ability to remain with what takes time?
A culture shaped by immediacy can become impatient with anything that develops slowly. We may abandon relationships because repair takes time, discard ideas because results are delayed, or give up on formation because its progress cannot always be measured.
Carrying resists this impatience. It teaches that hiddenness is not the same as absence and that delay is not always failure.
But carrying is not endless endurance without wisdom. Mature carrying requires discernment. Some things deserve to be held; others must be released. The question is not whether we can carry everything, but whether we can recognize what has been entrusted to us.
To carry well is to remain faithful to what is becoming without confusing faithfulness with refusal to let go.
Reflection
What are you carrying?
What in my life is still becoming and therefore requires patience?
Where have I mistaken a hidden process for a failed process?
What responsibility has been entrusted to me that I am tempted to abandon too soon?
What am I carrying that no longer belongs to me and now needs to be released?
